The "Eisjöchl" is one of the most famous tours in the Alps. It is both technically and physically demanding, but for sure a life goal for many mountainbikers. The excursion is often done as a two-day tour. Our tour starts in the center of Naturno. From there, we ride towards Val Venosta. After about 2 km we turn left onto the state road towards Val Venosta. About a hundred meters further, we turn right onto the road to Val Senales. We pass through the illuminated tunnels and continue along the road that leads us uphill for approx. 10 km. We turn onto the steep street leading into the Val di Fosse and continue until we reach the mountain restaurant "Vorderkaser". From there, we proceed on the forest road (no. 24) into the heart of the famous Val di Fosse. We ride past the "Rableid" hut and arrive at the "Eishof" hut (2071m). After a break or an overnight stay at the "Eishof hut" our ride continues on an old military road (mid - steep) that leads us up to the "Eisjöchl" (2895m). Immediately behind the alpine pass, we arrive at the "Petrarca" hut (2875m). The downhill to Plan is a precipitously steep gravel road with a lot of hairpin bends, thus technically demanding. The technical part ends at the "Lazins" hut, where we proceed on the forest road to Plan. From Plan we take the asphalt road to get to San Leonardo in Passiria (signposted). There we take the cycle path to Merano (signposted) A stop in the picturesque spa town Meran is recommended. From Merano we return to the cycle path that leads us through Lagundo, Tel, Rablá, Plaus and finally back to Naturno.
